Áldor ,János László (Nagyimánd, Hungary) 1895-1944 In 1919 got his degree in civil engineering but as a self-thought
artist starts painting earlier. From 1924 participates in exhibitions with his naturalist style paintings. Became
the member of the board of directors of the Benczur Society.
Basch, Árpád Budapest,Hungary) 1873-1944 Painter and graphic artist. Studies under Bertalan Karlovsky and
Simon Hollosy, Later continues his studies in Paris. After his return in 1896 pioneers the applied graphics in his
works. Credited with many illustrations and posters. Also known for his landscape oil paintings and scenery.
Heyer, Arthur (Haarhausen, Germany) 1872-1931 German painter and illustrator. Well known for his animal subjects,
Also for his book illustrations. Died in Budapest, Hungary.
Kukán, Géza (Érsekujvár,Hungary) 1890-1936 Member of the Ecole Libre of Nagybanya (Hungary, today in Romania).
Studies painting in Budapest, Munich and Paris. Had many exhibition and many awards. His favorite subjects are nudes, portraits
and the life of miners (he was one). Many of his paintings hang in the National Gallery in Budapest.
Nyilasy, Sándor (Szeged, Hungary) 1873-1934 Studies arts in Munich, Paris and Nagybanya (Hungary). He's
strongly influenced by the works of Hollosy and Munkacsy but later develops his own style. The subjects are the ethnic people
and folklore around them. Usualy he paints them in the tranquility of Sundays and holidays. Female subjects are
usualy dressed in clothes with pinkish tone. Many of his paintings are in the National Gallery of Arts in Budapest,
Hungary.
Pataky, László (Brád , Hungary) 1857-1912 Studied under K.Piloty in Munich until 1882 when he moves to Paris.
Spends time in the art studios of Munkacsy. Later he receives the Munkacsy scholarship for his works. The military and horses
as his main subjects, he becomes very popular. Also made many illustrations for newspapers and magazines. His frescos
are seen in Academia Ludovica (Hungary), which he painted in collaboration with Pal Vago. Many of his paintings
are exhibited in National Gallery of Arts in Budapest, Hungary.
Scheiber, Hugó (Budapest, Hungary) 1873-1950 Exhibits in Vienna, Rome, Berlin and USA. For decades he
paints plain air impressionist paintings but later adding more colors and reducing forms through pointillism he reaches out
to expressionism then futurism. He is very inconsistent as far as art style goes, this reflects in prices that he receives
at auctions all across the spectrum.You'll see very different artist if you look at the work for his ever changing "periods"
and styles. Never the less he's still very sought after artist with an impressive portfolio. Several of his works
are exhibited in the National Gallery of Arts in Budapest, Hungary.
